Child and Adolescent Support Team
Start Date: 17 Nov 2007
The Romania Appeal was originally created in 2003 in order to provide the children at the Casa Luminii Centre with the one-to-one attention volunteers can provide whilst at the centre, as well as funding for long term projects. Another aim was to provide volunteers with the life changing experience to see how empty and desperate the children's lives would be without the centre. Since 2004 we have managed to raise just over £55,000, which has enabled the existence of a Family Home and is contributing towards the new Respite Care Home.
Nearly 300 volunteers ha! ve now been to the centre in Romania and 2006 has been another incredible year as it has seen the beginnings of the Respite Care Home and the start of the Intensive Interaction
Outreach Programme. Many of the volunteers who go to the centre find their experience so amazing they go to the Centre as much as they can, and raise much more than the £300 we ask for. As a result, in
October 2004 the charity was able to adopt 14 orphans and give them a permanent loving home and family for life.
The Appeal is run largely voluntarily. Through the Romania Appeal you can get front line work experience with children with special needs and give the children joy and happiness just by playing with them. Join our dedicated community of volunteers to get experience in your field and help those in desperate need!
There are 8 trips a year, which are between 9 and 16 days long and all training will be provided.
For more ! information please visit the CAST website www.cast-uk.com or a! ttend th e information day on 17th November. Please register in the usual way and more information will be sent to you.
A CRB check will be necessary for this volunteering opportunity.
